The Value of Time
A 23 year old male Japanese was diagnosed with a rare terminal illness whereby the skull dissolves by itself. He was the 8th person to contract this disease in the world since around year 1880. He faced his illness bravely and was a great encouragement to his friends who visited him frequently in hospital. He shared something meaningful to one of his friends which I would like to share with all readers as well.
"To comprehend the value of 1 year, ask the student who failed his University Entrance Exam.
To comprehend the value of 1 month, ask the mother who gave birth to a premature baby.
To comprehend the value of 1 week, ask the editor of a weekly newspaper.
To comprehend the value of 1 hour, ask the pair of lovers who are waiting to meet.
To comprehend the value of 1 minute, ask the people who missed their stop on the train.
To comprehend the value of 1 second, ask the person who managed to avoid an accident in time.
To comprehend the value of one-tenth of a second, ask the person who ended up with a silver medal at the Olympics.
The hands of the clock will continue ticking. Therefore, treasure every moment you have. And treat today as the utmost gift you have."
Great words of wisdom from a person who refused to give in to death...
