i went to the bowling alley at pyramid yesterday. there was a competition...if i m not wrong, it's a sort of interstate bowling competition. there were categories for under 12, under 15 and under 18. when i arrived, it was the under 15 Masters event..meaning tt the top 16 (just putting a no.) of the whole field of abt a few hundred bowlers bowl a game of 12 games.
whenever a bowler bowled a strike, there would be cheers erupting frm their supporters. i think the largest and loudest group of supporters were frm penang. they were cheering for jonathan chan..i watched him bowl and trust me..he was really good..
but anywayz...the thought tt came into my mind was the time when i was a competitive bowler in 2002 and 2003..representing my school in competitions. it was the same..when i was bowling, there would be frens cheering me on. when i bowled badly, the coach would offer me adivce and my other team mates would encourage me. and when i bowled well, i could feel the adrenaline rush in me..wanting to excel and score high games..i realy loved tt feeling..
i really miss tt atmosphere...schools competing against each other...bowlers exchanging strikes..not wanting to be outdone by the other..at the end of the day, all of us were fighting glory for our school. the whole bowling alley would be crowded with supporters, teachers and banners...the alley would also be filled with cheers! the crowd oso moans sometimes when a bowler didnt get a strike or misses his spare..
well, i guess these memories would always remain dear to my heart..coz i know never again will i get to experience such situations again...i have long lost the competitiveness in bowling i once had...i just bowl for fun now...maybe sgn up for a few competitions here and there..but it's only for fun..
