a few days back, i was scared out of my life...well..literally..
I WAS STUCK IN THE LIFT.
i was abt to go out and buy lunch when the lift i was taking got stuck. i live on the 18th floor and when the lift descended to the 17th floor, the lift ceased to descend and instead, it began shaking violently up and down. i was terrified, petrified, scared. for once i thought i was going to die. i thought tt the cable was gonna break and i was gonna plunge to my death with the lift. no words can exactlty describe the kind of fear i felt within me.
though scared out of my wits, i tried to remain calm (but was quite futile though) and began pressing the emergency button. things were not made better when it was only abt 12 plus in the afternoon and the chance of anybody hearing the bell was very low. i began knocking the door as well so as to allow anyone nearby to identify the exact floor i was on. at this moment, the violent shaking had stopped and there was no motion. the numbers on the screen indicating the floor level had at this time changed to 2 dashes.
by some miracle, when the door opened, i was already on the ground floor. this meant tt at some time when i was pressing the bell, the lift had continued to make its descent..without me knowing. there was no indication on the screen as well.
this whole experience lasted for abt 5 minutes, but it was already enuff to make my hair stand at its end. i really thought tt i was gonna be trapped in the lift for a few hours..without food or water... breathing may have posed a problem as the air in the lifts are stagnant (there are no fan ventilators in the lift)
this experience really made me felt a kind of helplessness. i was stuck in the lift, not knowing whether anyone would hear the emergency bell. even if someone had heard the bell, would tt person bother to report the matter to the security? u begin to worry when help will arrive. the handphone cant be used due to no reception. there is nothing u can do..but to wait..endlessly. i never wanna go thru this again. it was a short accident tt lasted an eternity....
